To start off, the term "Us" refers to my wife and I... I'm Bob, she's Evelyn. We're just your average, ordinary married couple. NOT! :) Married couple, yes, but average and ordinary are both a bit of a stretch (OK, they're a HUGE stretch).
We're currently living in a really great house in a quiet
community in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I've been in Texas since about 1998,
and Evelyn came into my life a few years
after. Her and I met online. Yes, I know what you're thinking. But it's not like that. Well, maybe it is. It depends on what you're thinking. You pervert!
She was in California at the time, and after a short while doing the long distance thing, she came up with this insane idea that she actually wanted to be with me for some reason, so she moved here to Texas. Several years later, on June 8, 2008, we were married.

Evelyn is the most amazing woman on this planet. She came out of nowhere and literally swept me off my feet... in a way I never thought possible. Neither one of us were looking at the time, and didn't even meet in a way that implied dating interests (didn't meet through some personals service, or in a club or anything). Since that time, I have been the happiest man in the universe... because I have the most amazing person to share my life with... a person who loves me, respects me, and appreciates me in a way that I honestly didn't think I'd ever find in my life. It's truly amazing, and I can only think that I must be blessed for meeting her and for the development of this fantastic thing that is continually growing between us.
We have a really great life here, and I consider myself blessed in many, many ways. It's just us and our 5 insane cats, trying to make the best out of life, and ourselves, and keep things fun and interesting... and I'd say we do a pretty good job at it :)

Alright... here's the stuff you *really* want to know :)... things we like... well, let's see... music (as should be obvious by now), just about anything sci-fi and fantasy (me more sci-fi than Evelyn, although I'm slowly turning her into a sci-fi geek!), classic cars of all kinds (I'm a part time petrol-head), computers and geek stuff for me, reading and writing for Evelyn, many things of a "not so normal" nature, intellectuals, candles, kitties (duh), things ancient, antique, Victorian and/or medieval, the unusual in general, artistic expression in many forms... oh, and how can I forget... there are few things in this world better than a good cup of coffee. OK... for me, anyway. Evelyn can have her tea or hot cocoa :)
We both have a bit of couch potato in us. I'm not afraid to admit it! I don't think it's a bad thing in the slightest bit... and when we get off the couch and out of the house, it's always an adventure - whether going on some epic trip somewhere, or doing our weekend grocery run. When on the couch with the TV on, it's most often shows like Doctor Who, Top Gear, MacGyver, many times animated and/or kids stuff like Family Guy, Scooby Doo, Chowder, American Dad, Venture Bros., etc. For movies, it's a wide mix, from drama to fantasy, but the staples are things like Harry Potter, Wallace & Gromit, Cars, Monsters Inc, The Incredibles, The Librarian movies, etc. Occasionally though, we'll actually watch something that wasn't created for kids :) ...and Evelyn has been known to like her Mavs games :)
Well, and she'll watch all kinds of weird
dramas and avante garde things as well...
she's like that you know :)

We love doing road trips. Texas is great for them, and we hope to get a few more
in before it's all said and done... both in Texas and beyond. Thoughts and ideas change all the time, but a few consistent ones are... some more camping adventures like at Dinosaur Valley, Lake Whitney and others... the Grand Canyon someday, a train ride through the Smoky Mountains (we go there every year, but have never seen it by train!), LOTS of places in Europe, more excursions to beach destinations like the Bahamas, Cancun or Jamaica, maybe some other adventures into South America... the list is probably endless :)
|
One of the things that makes Texas is so cool for road trips is that you can go from forests to deserts to oceans to marshes... all without leaving the state. That totally rawks, and is a compliment to Texas' massive size and south central location.
So there you have it. Any of you still reading? :) If you've made it this far, then you are someone for me to admire :) I thank you for putting up with my incredible amount of babbling... it's a bad habit of mine. If you'd like to comment on any of this stuff, or want to know more about us, feel free to email me... I'd love to hear from you!
