Cars & Coffee Car Show

2010/06/05

This was our first time attending a Cars & Coffee event, either as participants or spectators!  I heard about it through the North Texas Austin Healey Club's event page, and thought we'd check it out.  What an awesome show!  There are Cars & Coffee events all over the United States and Europe.  Check out their website and some of these amazing photos we took below....

Cars & Coffee happens once a month, starting at 8AM and going til noon.  There's loads of coffee and other drinks available, and even breakfast goodies if you want them!  And I think most of what you pay for is in the form of donations for charity as well, which is very cool.  The Dallas area event happens at Classic BMW in Plano.  If you're in the area on the first Saturday of the month, check it out!  There was only one other Austin Healey this morning, but fortunately he got there early enough to still be able to grab the spot next to me :)

What's really awesome about the show is that it's not just British cars... and not even just old cars.  It's all about cars in general, old and new.  So we got to see an incredible variety of cars ranging from 1920's Fords to brand new Ferraris.

I would guess there were maybe 400 cars this Saturday... jam packing the huge parking lot off to the side of Classic BMW where they do the event.  They divide up the lot by country flags.  So there was British flag section, Italian flag, Japanese, etc. and you just went to your area and parked.  It's a neat way to keep all the car styles somewhat together.  I'm generally not a big fan of Ferraris and Lamborghinis, but there was no denying that the Italian section was quite an amazing sight :)

Lots of amazing American iron there as well... some of it just downright breathtaking.  And yes, you're seeing correctly in one of the photos above... a YUGO!  We were in awe :)  Who would have thought that you'd see a Yugo here... with California plates no less!  And below... is that a '62 Chevy Wagon LIMO!?  Why yes, I believe it is :)

We didn't stay long this day, but we still had a blast, and will definitely be back once the temperature drops a bit... maybe the September show.  Next time, we'll be setting up some chairs near the exit to watch, and more importantly HEAR, some of these amazing cars accelerating out of the parking lot as the show winds down :)
